View Full Version : French Connection I & II
Seeing the box set of the two films has reminded me to buy this classic movie ...
My question is - is it worth getting both films or would I be better with the 2 disc special edition of the original only ?
In other words - how good is the second film ? I'm sure I've seen it (doesnt Popeye get forced to take heroin ?)
Also could someone clear up if the box set is two or three discs ?
TIA - Paul ;)
The box set is 3 discs & well worth a purchase.
I never cared much for either film till re-evaluting them after getting this set - so glad I did now.
Both films are excellent and interesting to compare as different approaches to the genre. The second film softens and sentimentalises Popeye Doyle's character but this allows for a really superb performance from Gene Hackman to come through and the foot chase scene at the end is as good in its way as the car chase from the original.
The box set is three discs I think.

Yup - 2 discs for film 1, 1 for film 2 :)
Thanks guys - I'm convinced - I'll have a look for a cheap copy of the box set somewhere then ... Paul ;)

I watched this last week and i was appalled!!!!
They were wearing flairs and horrid brightly coloured jumpers!
Not once did i see any fashionable black t-shirts with almost rude slogans printed on them!
This disc is certainly off back.

if you can play R1's try Play because they were selling the box set for about £2 more than just the first film on it's own.

Does the R1 box have the same 5* packaging for the first film or is it some cardboard jobbie that houses the 3 discs together?

It's just a slip case which holds the two ( as you'd buy sepratley ) discs.
