just got the new box set of the original & the new direct to video sequel.the original is a classic, but the sequel was a surprise-while not a patch on the original it was entertaining and better than most d.t.v.movies-and of course it features the return of the immortal hanson brothers!these guys rule!dts track as well....

Only seen the original, which I do like, but is it me or does it start REALLY slowly, it takes me an hour to get into it!!

Is it just me?

I think the original is howlingly funny, almost on a par with "The Longest Yard" in the sports movie stakes, but haven't even heard of the DTV sequel.

You mean it's not obvious?!! :p

Was just searching the forums for this film (as you do) and as there was already a thread decided to add to it rather than starting another.

You know what's strange about the original though? I saw the edited version on tv about three times before picking up the dvd on the cheap. And obviously the swearing had been taken out (thus losing about 1/3 of the original dialogue) but the ending had also been edited. The original ending is so much bleaker then the version that I saw that it was untrue. Paul Newman's character Reggie is left in the edited version thinking that he was going to get back with his ex and things are on the up but in the dvd you can see that he is still living in the childish delusional world that the majority of sportsmen live in.

Still love it as a film though.
