there are a lot of legends being mentioned but personally i really like
Nas & Wu Tang Clan - instead of the normally bragging, these rappers actually have something to say and are innovative in the genre of hiphop.
for sheer party music i would say busta rhymes, mop, dre.

not strictly rap but N.E.R.D's album is an absolute stunner and one of my all time faves.

im also getting into 2pac at the mo, has done some classic tracks!

i dont think we should leave out eminem though. the majority of people hate him now, but there is no denying his lyrical skills and clever wordplay.

TIM WESTWOOD!!

gonna bang in your face! with some of the hottest joints on the street..

Rizel23

I'll take this to the Top.

I gotta say the hottest rapper out at the moent has gotta be Jay Z.

Reason Why? If anyone is into the mixtape scene then they will know why alreay. There is literally a new tune out each week by Jay and his reply to losing the the battle so to speak with Nas on Hot 97 has really inspired him. Just listen to 'People Talking'.

You gotta mention the greats, my fav is 'Biggie' what a loss he was to everyone. Also Pac who truly rapped from the heart.

Within the 90's (being 19 my era) Nas has gotta have a big mention for 2 outstanding albums, crame the pressure on him and he'll deliver (Illiamatic & Stillmatic)

Wu Tang, Methodman has gotta be one of the most underrated rappers of the 90's i feel, has so much going for him, if only he sobbered up a bit he'd be hittin the big times for sure!

Everyones going on about the rappers, what about the producers?

Has the genre ever had a better decade then the 90's for beats?

Dr Dre, RZA, Timberland and so many more that have taken rap to the masses.

Also the accpetance of R&B into Hip Hop has made it better i feel, even hardcore rappers are seeing that if you have a R&B tune on ya album the women are gonna buy it and help the genre reach wider audiences and sell more records and create more remixes which often outsell the ogionals.

There are so many different rappers out there now with differnt stlyes, Eminem could turn into the new Vanila Ice if he does'nt watch out as each new album is going more commerical (If ya disagree listen to his early battle MC stuff with Rawkus and see how good a rapper he could have been)

DMX is now getting to soft, i luv X but hes driffting away from the Ruff Ryders and losing that Harcore style that he helped re-lunch.

Of course ya have ya 'Black Power' rappers like KRS-One, Mos Def & Common, who are great poets but after repated listening get very boring and ya wondering why there not a Politicians!

There so many good erns out there with somthing good to say and help the genre move forward, but the likes of LL (although must say his new single is very good!), Ice Cube are well past it now and have nothing really new to add i feel.

And who said Dr Dre was a rapper?! He pays proper rappers to write for him, ask Jay Z who wrote his biggest smash hit so far!

Also mention probably the greast MC who went before his time, Big L, one of the finest in the game, just before he blew up and signed to Rocafella got shot, bitterly missed.

Theres hope though, lots of new rappers coming through, my tip is 'Ali Vegas' only 18 years old, i managed to have peek at his new album and its very good. Simlar stlye of rapping to Big L, just not so up him self and confient. Download 'One World' feat 'Square One' and i think you'll agree with me.

Right, think i covered everything there :D Rizel

If you're gonna mention producers then you can't leave out DJ PREMIER. He is responsible for some of the greatest tunes ever!!! He has produced tracks for some of the greatest rappers -Biggie, Jay, Nas.......the list goes on. And is also half of one of Hip-Hops most successful groups GANG STARR!!!

Rizel - LL Cool J still has it in him, listen to the track 10 million stars!! When his new album drops it'll silence a lot of critics!!!

Tim Westwood - I gotta agree that without him Hip-Hop in the UK wouldn't be as big. Plus you gotta laugh at everything the guy says!!!

"Let's blast off big baby!!!" "Drop a bomb!!!!"

Oh yeah forgot to mention look out for Kool G Rap's new album!!! Another rap veteran making a big comeback.

In the words of Westwood, " 4 minus 3 baby" Ha ha ha :D

Yep, sorry it was late! I duno how i forgot Primo, have just got that 5CD collection of his and its so good, can'nt find a track i don'nt like.

Point i was trying to put across with LL is that he is doing nothing new, he's still rapping about the same things he was back in the 80's, pure battle MC stuff. His new single is good though, although the beat is probably helping people like it a lot more than they normally would. His last album was'nt to bad as well actucally come to think of it, a few good tracks.

The fact Westwood is white is a huge reason why hes either hated or luved, you can'nt deine it. If you've ever been to one of his partys and seen him on decks you might as well have had two CD Players for all the mixing he does!

He is a great bloke though and really helped the UK scene out a lot, but is far to over rated IMOP, although i still listen to his show when i can becuase he's the only hiphop DJ to go out over he whole of the UK, theres a lot better DJs to listen to if your based in London area.

All in all its gonna be another good year for Hip Hop i think, it seems to be deviding its self well between going commerical and sticking to its grass roots fans, which many genre have not been able to do.

Gonna sound a bit cheesy, but i can'nt wait till November for the Blueprint 2 by Jay Z. The Blueprint was an oustanding album and full deserved the 5 mic award it got from the Source, which is only ever saved for classics. Rizel

Kool keith is solid gold man go check his stuff. I dont feel I've missed out cos I dont have dre, snoop or nas albums I've heard their stuff and it dont strike any chords with me. If you want to listen to 40 year old millionaires rapping about how street they are thats fine it's your choice and has bugger all to do with me.

I dont understand the concept of being "to different" are you trying to say that you should like something just because it's popular?

What has Hip Hop done for Dre and snoop?it's made they very wealthy indeed nowt wrong with that IMO. Have they used their power, money and experience to better Hip Hop? my answer is no

Do you think that the likes of 50cent are the future of hip hop? god I hope not.:gag:

Well thats the difference: Gangsta rap and Hip Hop. I do like 50's album but not in the same way that i appreicate Talib Kweli stuff. Its completly different and cant really be compared even if they do have the same roots. Nas for me is middle ground, the man has intersting things to say on all kinds of subjects but also has the underground feel in some of his tracks.
I have just downloaded some of kool keiths stuff and can see the appeal, very catchy and different. But as i said it is definatly more true hip hop rather than gangsta rap. any other recommendations for artists like him, so i can get free delivery on amazon?

Thanks, jon
