View Full Version : Favourite AC/DC Album and Why?
Mines is Powerage mostly cos 'Riff Raff' is on it....love the guitars on this album and the overall feel of a band coming in to their own that the album possesses....makes all the prior albums sound like warm ups:D

Bon Scott era-Highway To Hell, one of the first albums I ever owned, got it from Father Xmas in 1979:D
Brian Johnson era-has to be Back In Black, after that they went all cack, with the Geordie's voice getting ever more grating!!
Have to agree with both the above ?
Highway to Hell & Powerage with Bon Scott are class albums (I saw them just B4 he died & the were class)
Back in Black is one of the best sounding rocks albums ever IMO
shame about the vocals but at least you could make them out !!
I bought the latest DVD (the DTS one) but got rid of it as BJ's vocals are dire (and that's being polite)
Paul ;)
As usual my musical taste is the same as George Vaders.
Bon Scott:Highway To Hell
Brian Johnson:Back In Black

Bon Scott:Highway To Hell
Brian Johnson:Back In Black
Same here as well, but Back in Black just edges it, as it was the first AC/DC album I bought, following seeing them on TOTP;)

Always tend to get a bit bored of AC/DC albums half way through so i'll nominate the comperlation CD i made up. :)
Overall fave has to be High Voltage.
Whilst Back in Black is a great album,I prefer For Those About to Rock from their later stuff (possibly because it was my first 'DC album):D
No surprises here either:
Back In Black (Brian Johnson)
Highway To Hell (Bon Scott)

Back in black and highway to hell ... predictable really.. Honorable nods to Stifff Upper Lip and Let There Be Rock too
Definitely LET THERE BE ROCK 1st AC/DC album i bought and not a bad track on it(though i had to get the import version with CRABSODY IN BLUE on it as the UK version replaces it with PROBLEM CHILD for some reason)
Bringing this back from the dead... Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

POWERAGE Just bought the remastered version, ebery song is a classic. I can't make a pick of the bunch, just depends what type of mood I'm in. At the mo, it's between Downpayment Blues or Gone Shootin' Mind you could be different next week:thumbs:
Am off to see a tribute band at Moses Gate, Bolton on Saturday, AC/DO, should be a good night
Back in Black
I like "Live" (2 disc collectors) - For Those About To Rock just sounds amazing with the cannons. Love listening to that in the car full blast.

Youve got to love the Whole Lotta Rosie, with the crowd chanting "Angus!" at the start- class:thumbs:
In my yoof I was partial to a bit of "If You Want Blood ... " & "Back In Black", but by 1982 I finally realised how little they really appealed to me when Y&T blew them away at the NEC as the support band on the "For Those About To Rock" tour :)
John Farnham does a cracking version of "It's A Long Way To The Top" though

Bah, humbug...Y&T did not blow them away !!;)
For what it's worth...
Highway to Hell
Back in Black
Live From Atlantic Studios (From the Bonfire boxset)
The most recent live album was **** poor compared to "If You Want Blood..." and the "Let There Be Rock" 2 disc set from the aforementioned boxset.

Also look out for the early aussie imports which have diff track listings and extra tracks on that the uk didnt get. (high voltage and t.n.t. are 2 of them. Also the original dirty deeds done dirt cheap.) My fave track of all time is let there be rock, I was also very pleased that the last album sounded more like the old ac/dc. They were amazing on the last tour as well!

I'll always remember buying a copy of Smash Hits way back in 1979 and in it was a review of Highway To Hell. I can't remember the actual review but essentially it said that AC/DC were the worst band in the world and this album sucked.
Right, I thought, I'm off to buy that and so I did. Absolutley fantastic album and will probably remain my favourite AC/DC album for that reason alone.
I do have a soft spot for Dirty Deeds as well though with the classic 'Ride On' and Back In Black will always be one of the great albums of all time.
There's no bad album from the Bon Scott era in my opinion but with BJ on vocals they went downhill quickly after FTATR.

Highway To Hell for the fantastic Night Prowler, Touch Too Much, Girls Got Rhythm, and of course the title track.
Dirty Deeds for Problem Child, Dirty Deeds, Squealer and Ride On.
High Voltage for She's Got Balls, Little Lover, It's A Long Way......., Rock n Roll Singer
Let There Be Rock for title track, Crabsody In Blue, Overdose and Bad Boy Boogie
Powerage for Riff Raff, Gimme A Bullet and Rock n'Roll Damnation.
All of these albums and If You Want Blood are almost perfect rock n'roll albums, sadly only Back In Black comes close after Bon's death.

Has anyone bought any of the newly remastered cd's and had trouble accessing the bonus material?
If You Want Blood.... :notworthy
First Live album I ever bought (and come to think of it, my first AC/DC album as well) and still probably the greatest, 23 yrs on!
I also saw AC/DC on their "For Those ...." tour with Y&T in support at Leeds, Y&T were good but AC/DC were brilliant - ears still ringing 2 days later. My first gig and one that's only been surpassed by very few

A body of Venus with arms"

Hi Platty,
I've done that, i made sure all cd players/windowsmedia players and so on were not on, I followed the link and clicked on connected, I confirmed the two questions it asked, then I got a blank page telling me to access through connecteds home page!
I know this has happened to at least one other person who posted the query on ac/dc's web site, but no one replied to him, and I haven't had a reply from the cdconnected people yet either!
Argh!
Thanks anyway though, I'll have to content myself with the booklet until cdconnected reply!
dirty deeds and back in black
track listings don't get any better than:
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Love At First Feel
Big Balls
Rocker
Problem Child
There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'
Ain't No Fun (Waiting 'Round To Be A Millionaire)
Ride On
Squealer
on anybodys album!
Ill be sad and say Live.
It just takes me back to 96 at the Newcastle Arena. They were awesome:clap:
