Andrew WK - New Album of J-Pop Covers

For those that want some good-time rock in their lives get new album 'The Wolf' released today, it's easily as good as 'I Get Wet' and deserves to be heard!

Unfortunately it doesn't, but it does have the video to that song (We Want Fun) if that's any good to you. There's a few songs on the album that are at least as good as We Want Fun though.

It's hard to compare an album I've listened to regularly for almost two years to one I've only had for a day, but 'The Wolf' is gonna be a grower and Never Let Down is perhaps the best song he's ever done. This album definitely has more variation on it than the first.

Andrew is great live and I'm off to see him again in October, tour dates are at www.awkworld.com

Well I...um..."tried" this album before I bought it, and so far am glad I did.

God his lyrics are awful. Loads of "slow" songs on this album. They don't work and don't suit his style.

The first album was, at times, a guilty pleasure but this one is pretty damn awful IMO.

No, but he has been wearing a pair of blue jeans recently instead of the usual white ones!

Unfortunately I had the misfortune to have to sit through his set at Docklands a year or so ago when he was supporting the chili's. Practically the whole crowded booed him through his entire show and many people turned their backs to him. Didn't take long before the bottle throwing began Thousands of bottles being throw at the stage hehe, a few managed to various members of the band smack in the face.

I'm surprised he's managed to recover from that!

Oh well I suppose the 9/10 NME and 8/10 Metal Hammer reviews for the new album have helped!

Another question... is the WK meant to be an abbreviation of what his music is like?

Yes it is a strange state of affairs, I guess you either get it or you don't.

Granted The Darkness are not great, but listening to their music doesn't make me want to vomit.
